How Odarid saved my mum and dad's sanity! You wouldn't guess it looking at me now, but when I was little I had some CATastrophic little accidents inside. One day I got a bit confused and peed on the floor instead of in my litter box. Unfortunately my accident happened in the spare room - on the carpet! So it was impossible to mop it up, and boy did it smell! Mum and dad checked the internet and followed all the instructions they found there. They started out trying to remove the smell using natural products like baking soda. That didn't work, so they went to the supermarket and bought a product there. THAT didn't work either, so they went to a pet store and bought a product there. But THAT didn't work either! By now mum was at her wits end. If there's one thing she doesn't like, it's a gross smell in the house! And as for me, I felt terrible that my little accident was causing so much trouble. So dad turned to the internet one more time, and found out about a product called Odarid. He ordered it online, it arrived the next day... and it WORKED! When mum and dad sprayed it on the spot where I'd had my accident it foamed up so they could see it working. And when it dried... the smell was gone! We were all so much happier after that. I wrote to the people at Odarid to tell them how much I liked their product, and they said they'd send me another bottle if I wrote this review. So now we have another bottle sitting on the shelf... just in case I have any more CATastrophic accidents in the future. Thanks Odarid! You can find out more about Odarid here. The team at Odarid are looking for international distributors (aside from in Australia and South Africa, where they already have distributors). So if you're one of my international fans and you're looking for a new business opportunity, why not get in touch?

My mum's making a book about me!
It's a book for children and it covers the story of how I was found all by myself on the sidewalk in the rain - and how I found a new home! In the book it's a girl called Kate who finds me. Mum has written the words and now she's working on the pictures. I think it's going to take her a LOOONG time, but I'll update you with her progress. In the meantime, check out this working sketch of Kate with a baby Bruce! I'd love to hear what you think about the book idea. Please leave a comment on my blog or on my Facebook page and let me know. I don't know about you, but I think 'Kitten Suckles Air' is one of the heavy hitters when it comes to crazy cat videos. So I've been practicing, and practicing, and now - voila! I have perfected my creepy, David Lynch-esque homage.
I'm getting an operation called 'the snip' tomorrow. I'm a bit scared, but luckily The Little Leather Co. made a bag for me so I can take all my toys with me to the vet. The Little Leather Co. are also giving you a 20% discount on all their handbags as a way to thank you for following me. Just enter the promo code BRUCE to claim your discount. You can visit their website here. In the meantime, please keep your paws crossed for me! In week 19 I appeared on George Takei's Facebook page! Dad is a big George Takei fan, so he created a Star Trek tribute set for some of my photos. I also helped out with the gardening... and fell off my chair. ![]() Hi, I’m Bruce the cat! I was found on a footpath when I was one day old. Back then I was as small and grey as a mouse. A few weeks later, when I opened my eyes, they were blue. When I got bigger, I developed dark points on my paws and face. Lots of people thought I was Siamese! But then something strange happened. I got darker… And darker… And darker! My fluffy grey fur turned sleek and black. And then my eyes changed from blue to green. I’m magic! But really, there’s a scientific explanation behind my amazing changing colour. Kittens are born with blue eyes, but most don’t stay that way. At about four weeks old a kitten’s eyes start to change colour, and they don’t settle into their grown-up colour for about three months. (It might be a bit later for me, because I’m a bit of a late developer.) But what about my coat? Why did I change colour from grey to black? This not only had me stumped, but also my mum, my dad and my vet! I still haven’t been able to find any scientific information about this, but thanks to the internet I am pretty sure I had a condition known as ‘fever coat’.
According to the internet, if the mother cat is sick or stressed during pregnancy, her kittens can be born with fever coat. Fever coat makes the fur appear lighter than it should be for the first weeks or months of a kitten's life. In my case, I changed colour when I shed my kitten coat. So there you have it – the answer to the mystery behind my amazing changing colour! If you have any information about fever coat please let me know in the comments. In week 16 I discovered the joys of lawns... and the delights of tissue paper! I'm really enjoying being a seaside cat. In week 15 I moved from one island in New Zealand to another! My big sister Jager came too, so it was a tail of two kitties moving cities. We had to go on the plane! Luckily we had some Feliway to keep us nice and calm. |
