When I was a tiny kitten George Takei beamed me up by featuring my story on his Facebook page. I've gone on to become a huge George fan, and today I'm boldly going where no cat has gone before... revealing the top five similarities between George Takei and me, Bruce the Cat.
1. Let's start with the most obvious one. We're both incredibly handsome.
2. We both look great in costume. (The trouble with Tiddles is that I don't really enjoy wearing my one.)
3. We're known for our expressive paws.
4. We're both pleasing in plaid. (Resistance is futile!)
5. And most importantly of all, we both stick up for what we believe in. (One of us is slightly more focused on human rights and the other one is slightly more focused on cat rights. I'll let you try to figure out who is who.)
Another similarity between us is that we've both written books! You can find out more about George's books here, and more about my book here and below.
I loved the story about me and my book in the Otago Daily Times the other day, and I've been featured on Dunedin's Channel 39 too! If you haven't visited my Kickstarter page yet, you can check it out here.
If you would like to spread the word about my book you can print off the poster or some flyers and post them at your school, in your office... or just keep them for yourself.

My favourite photos from the beginning of the year - in video form!
Over the past week I've been advising mum on the cover of the children's book about my life. This is what we've come up with so far!
Mum's been writing a children's book about me!
The children's book is a fictionalised account of how I was found. In the book it is a young girl called Kate who finds me and takes me home. The illustrations are based on real places in my new home town, Dunedin.
Mum has finally finished all the pictures!
The images are currently being scanned, and I am advising mum on a publishing plan, and a Kickstarter funding plan, as we speak!
Excuse all the exclamation marks, but it is very exciting.
Stay tuned for updates!
Wowee - I made it to the national news last night! You can watch the clip below, or a bigger version here on the TVNZ website.
Mum's been busy working on story book about me. In the book it's a little girl called Kate who finds me on the side of the road and takes me home. Look how cute I am with my fluffy grey fur and my big grey eyes!
My mum's making a book about me!
It's a book for children and it covers the story of how I was found all by myself on the sidewalk in the rain - and how I found a new home! In the book it's a girl called Kate who finds me. Mum has written the words and now she's working on the pictures. I think it's going to take her a LOOONG time, but I'll update you with her progress.
In the meantime, check out this working sketch of Kate with a baby Bruce! I'd love to hear what you think about the book idea. Please leave a comment on my blog or on my Facebook page and let me know.
Hello, my name's Bruce. Mum found me when I was just one day old. She and my dad are keeping me warm and fed with help from my other new human friends.
